Dramaturgy

This is Mario's theatrical specialty and passion. 

Mario will work with you to find the best way to support you and the story you want to tell.

Mario has experience supporting writers of all backgrounds and levels of experience, ability, and education. Mario is especially proud of his work supporting neurodivergent and BIPOC writers.

Design

Mario has designed sound, lights, video, and projections for a number of theater productions, both scripted and unscripted.

Mario was the Resident Designer for the Phoenix Theater, Associate Technical Director for Unexpected Productions, and the Technical Director for 18th & Union.

Directing

As a director, Mario believes in collaborative storytelling. For him, theater is about creating something none of us could have created on our own. 

Mario's directing experience includes scripted productions, readings, improvised shows, and virtual productions.

Improv Theater

Improvisational Theater holds a special place in Mario's heart. Since his first class in 2008, Mario has not stopped improvising. He has improvised on stage and off stage as a technical improviser, director, dramaturg, and producer, 

Mario has performed, taught, and coached improv in the US, Canada, Peru, Argentina, Italy, Austria, Slovenia Turkey, and Australia.

Mario has also led workshops for Australia's Improvention Festival, the Istanbul International Improv Festival, and Theater Momentum's Dramatic Improv Festival.

Stage/Production Management

Mario is a Stage and Production Manager* with experience working in professional productions, theater festivals, youth theater, improvisation, and virtual theater. Mario also has experience managing productions following AEA, IATSE, and SDC guidelines.

Mario's focus when Stage Managing is creating an accessible and welcoming space where directors, cast, designers, and crew can do their best creative work.

* Mario is not currently a member of AEA.
